SPONDYLOARTHRITIS:
Early Diagnosis of Ankylosing Spondylitis with MRI, Uveitis Assessment and Management, Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis Assessment and Measurement of Disease Activity in Inflammatory Bowel Disease
Synopsis & Introduction
For the past decade, the field of spondyloarthritis (SpA) has experienced major progress with regard to new treatments, earlier diagnosis, imaging technology and a better understanding of the genetics and pathogenesis of SpA. Early detection of axial SpA is now possible with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), allowing for early intervention and thus early relief for patients with this condition. Realising the benefits of MRI, this diagnostic tool has been incorporated by the Assessment of SpondyloArthritis International Society (ASAS) in the classification criteria of axial SpA in 2009.
Programme Highlights
This workshop aims to equip rheumatologists/ trainees with better understanding and ability to utilize MRI in diagnosing early axial SpA in patients without typical radiographic changes. Participants would have an opportunity to join in an interactive session to evaluate sacroiliac/ spinal radiographs and MRI with our experts.
As SpA involves extra-skeletal manifestations such as psoriasis, uveitis and inflammatory bowel diseases, determining their severity and management is vital in the overall therapy of SpA. This workshop provides participants a hands-on opportunity to perform assessment on our psoriasis / psoriatic arthritis patients. Lectures on uveitis and inflammatory bowel disease would further enhance the basic knowledge and understanding of SpA.
