OUR HISTORY
The first Ten Topics in Rheumatology took place in 1985 and was organised by Prof Graham Hughes from the Lupus Unit, St Thomas Hospital in London. The topics-of-the-day format was well-received and subsequently, Ten Topics conferences were successfully held in Barcelona, Rome and Buenos Aires, Argentina, to warm reception.
In 2008, Ten Topics made its debut in Asia, with Prof Feng Pao Hsii helming its first meeting held in Singapore. Under his guidance, Ten Topics In Rheumatology Asia conferences have been successfully held in Hong Kong and Manila, steadily gaining a reputation as the rheumatology conference to attend.
True to its original intentions, the Asian edition has enabled general practitioners and rheumatologists in the region to access valuable updates in the field, while benefiting from interaction with their local and international peers.
OUR MISSION
Our mission is “Rheumatology Without Borders”. Each meeting recruits outstanding international and regional speakers to present State-of-the-Art lectures and cutting-edge scientific findings as they relate to clinical practice.
Registration fees are kept affordable so that younger trainees and doctors will identify this meeting as their conference of choice. The conferences are also kept small, so that participants can interact and network with their peers in an “up close and personal” manner. In this way, the annual meetings continually create opportunities for our younger colleagues to present their scientific work.
OUR VISION
Our vision is that Ten Topics Rheumatology Asia will be more than just another rheumatology meeting. It will be a bridge linking Asian rheumatology to the rest of the world. It will be a platform where our younger colleagues can ascend the ladder of leadership, a place for them to stand on the shoulders of giants, an occasion that allows them to look at the horizon and beyond and see the potential of rheumatology. And it all begins with creating a unique, enriching and innovative experience for all our participants.
A TRUE ASIAN PERSPECTIVE
To achieve this Asian perspective, the meeting will be rotated among the various Asian countries annually, with Singapore serving as its “headquarters”. With each rotation, unique elements that make clinical practice so rewarding will be revealed – showcasing a true Asian perspective that will shape international rheumatology.
